Safety should always be your primary concern when selecting a cat collar. Not only should your cat’s collar have a personalized tag for identification purposes, but it should also be the type of collar that can easily be removed in case it becomes stuck or caught on an object. We all know how adventurous cats can be! For these reasons and more, you should consider purchasing your pet a breakaway cat collar.
Breakaway cat collars are specially designed so that if the collar does become caught, the weight of the cat will cause it to break away - hence their name, breakaway cat collars! Although your cat might return one day without its collar, at least your cat is safe and the only thing that needs to be replaced is the collar itself.
Most breakaway cat collars are made of nylon and are thus are inexpensive to purchase and to replace, if needed. There are a multitude of patterns and colors to choose from so you can find just the right collar for your cat. If your cat goes out at night, consider a collar that is reflective. This way, your cat will be seen from a distance - especially important when your cat is near roads. Reflective tape or reflective buckles are great options for your cat collar. Other types of cat collars offer this as well.
Breakaway cat collars are usually adjustable, so you can expand the collar if your pet puts on a few pounds, or tighten it (not too tight!) when your cat is on a diet. With so many options for your cat, why not choose a breakaway collar?
